Unilever Indonesia was founded on December 5, 1933 as Lever Zeepfabrieken N.V in Jakarta. On July 22, 1980, the company name was changed to PT Unilever Indonesia and on June 30, 1990, the company name was changed to PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. Unilever Indonesia sold 15% of its shares on the Jakarta Stock Exchange and Surabaya Stock Exchange in 1981. Unilever Indonesia has more than 1,000 distributors throughout Indonesia.
